What Offends You?
It seems that in today’s world, everyone is offended by someone, some symbol or some statue. This is especial true in our country, especially after the slaughter of the innocent people back in June of this year at the Emanuel African Methodist Church.
It seems that because the person who committed the murders had taken a picture alongside the Confederate Flag that it was the flags fault and therefore was a symbol of evil. The outcry against this “symbol of evil” was so intense that politicians, special interest groups and the main stream media were demanding the flags removal as if that was going to erase the history of our past along with all evil. So true to form and in the interest of political correctness, symbols such as flags, monuments, statues started coming down all over the country.
Now as I see it, many people are offended so easily and using the rationale that was used against the Confederate Flag and anything resembling it, I started thinking, what if we start removing anything or anyone that offends us.
So, let’s start with politicians; according to today’s Real Clear Politics poll numbers, President Obama’s unfavorable rating is 50.4% and therefore in a sense is offending that many people and should be removed. All of Congress should be removed since they are offending the majority of the people with their 74% negative rating. The Supreme Court is not doing much better and are offensive to many therefore warrants removable.
Planned Parenthood, due to all its negative press of late is offensive to a lot of people and should be abolished.
I could continue with lists of things or people or groups that are offensive but I think you get the picture. It is just plain crazy how quick we are to pin the blame on someone or something for our actions.
From the beginning of time, when Adam blamed Eve for disobeying God, man has been quick to point the finger away from himself.
The true blame lies within us. The prophet Jeremiah put it this way: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”
It is a heart problem, not a flag, statue or symbol problem. The heart of this nation has become deceitful and desperately sick! We need a spiritual cleansing, a come back to Jesus moment!
I am concerned for our nation, for its families, its children, marriages and our government but unless we get back on our knees, humble ourselves and seek God with all of our hearts, we will continue to be offended.
It is my hope and my prayer that if you are blaming something or someone else for what is going on in your life, that you will look to God for a spiritual healing!
God Bless You All!
